Set up a free Proton account and open the folder I’ve shared with you — about 10 minutes.
Hello,
I’d like to share documents with you securely using Proton Drive — an encrypted, Swiss-based service. I’ve set up a private folder called “Shared 1K” where we can exchange files. Everything kept there is end-to-end encrypted, so only you and I can open it.
To get in, you’ll create a free Proton account and accept the folder I’ve shared with you. It takes about 10 minutes — just follow the steps below in order.
Look for an email titled “New item shared with you.” Open it and click the purple button, Open in Proton Drive.
That button takes you to Proton’s sign-up page. (You can also go straight there: account.proton.me/signup.)
For security, Proton asks me to confirm your email before unlocking the folder. I’ll approve it as soon as I see the request — usually within a few minutes to a few hours. You’ll get a second email once it’s ready, so you can close the window and wait for that.
When the second “New item shared with you” email arrives, open it and click Accept item.
Sign in at drive.proton.me. In the menu on the left, click Shared with me. The “Shared 1K” folder will be there.
Open the folder and upload any document — drag a file into the window, or click New → Upload file. Then email or text me so I know everything is working.
From now on, you can upload and download files anytime from the Shared with me section.
If you get stuck on any step, just email me back or give me a call — I’m glad to walk through it with you.
Thanks,
Bill
